1) Do you have power on for the DSL modem ?

Do you have all the cables plugged in to the proper spots ??

Are there lights on for the computer, DSL modem and any router ??

The Power, Link and Ready lights should be ON solid.

The Activity light should be blinking.
2) Is that phone line working ?

You need to make sure you can call out on that phone line.

You need to make sure there is a cord plugged from the DSL modem
into the phone jack.

If there is static or humming on the phone line - it may not be
clear enough to keep the DSL circuit active.

If the phone line is a problem - contact your phone company.
3) Do you have filters on each item plugged into the phone
line EXCEPT the DSL modem ??

The filters force the equipment to use just the lower half
of the phone circuit frequency. Use on phones, faxes, answering machines, etc.

The DSL modem already knows to use just the upper half of the phone circuit frequency.

A filter on the DSL modem cuts off the circuit - do NOT put one on the DSL modem/router.

This allows them to share without interfering. If this is the
problem, correct the placement of the filters.
4) Turn off all the computer equipment and the DSL modem, including
any router.
Keep them off for about 10 seconds.
When you turn them back on, they should all start fresh.
  Sometimes electronics get confused
and restarting them can clear the problem.

Try going to a new web site when you turn the equipment back on.
5) Is it just one web site, or all web sites that will not display.

Try going to www.vcoms.net and see if our home page displays.

If it does, try going to a few of the links on our home page
to see if you can get to any web site at all.

Select sites you do not normally go to to make sure it is
not remembered by your computer.

It might not be your DSL connection - it might be the
Internet has a problem.

Checking sites that are in different parts of the
country might show you if this is happening.

If this is the problem - you will need to wait until
the problem is cleared at the source.
6) Can you browse/surf the Internet but not send e-mails ??

If you can surf the Web, but not send e-mails, it might
be just your e-mail program settings.

Check you have set up your e-mail program correctly.

What error message are you getting ? Write it down.

On some DSL circuits, additonal settings may be required
to send e-mails.

7) What lights are on or off on the DSL modem ?

The READY light is on when the connection between the DSL
modem and the Internet is good.

The LINK light is on when the connection between the DSL
modem and your computer or router is good.

If the Ready light is ON, and the Link light is OFF/blinking,
plugging the cable between the DSL modem and the
wall jack.

If the Link light is ON, and the Ready light is OFF/blinking,
unplug the cable between the DSL modem and the
computer/router.

Plug the cable you unplugged back into the proper jacks.

Did that help ?

If not - Write down which lights are on, off or blinking.

These will give us some clues to assist you.
8) DO YOU HAVE ANOTHER PHONE CORD YOU CAN TRY ?

Power everything off - computer, modem and any router.

Replace the phone cord between the DSL modem and the
phone jack, power everything back on.

Did that help ?
